IELTS Speaking Task 01:<\/span><\/h2>\n

Part one of the IELTS test is a general introduction section, where candidates are questioned about their personal lives by the examiner. Since, IELTS holds a one-on-one interaction session between the candidate and an examiner in a private space, the examiner tends to find out personal information about the candidate.In the Speaking test, you will have a discussion with a certified examiner. It will be interactive and as close to a real-life situation as a test can get. In telling something about yourself, you must cover a little bit of every aspect of your life, be it personal or professional, or even academic.\u00a0If you are asked particularly about a specific topic then you must remember to speak explicitly on it. Give major details related to that topic and give a well-rounded and crisp answer.<\/p>\n

The Speaking test is 11-14 minutes long and is in three parts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n
Part 1<\/td>\nYou will answer questions about yourself and your family.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Part 2<\/td>\nYou will speak about a topic.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Part 3<\/td>\nYou will have a longer discussion about the topic introduced in Part 2.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

The Speaking test is the same for both IELTS Academic and IELTS General Training tests.<\/p>\n

How to practise<\/span><\/h6>\n

This practice material is designed for two people working together. Find a study partner to help you practise. This might be a teacher or a friend.\u00a0Take the three parts of this practice test one after another without a break to make your practice as realistic as possible.\u00a0Remember, you need to speak fluently, clearly and accurately. It is important to say as much as you can and to be spontaneous. Prepare answers in advance.\u00a0Record yourself if you can so that you can go back and check your performance.<\/p>\n

Review your Speaking test<\/span><\/h6>\n

Listen to your recordings and discuss your test with your study partner. Think about how you spoke. Were you fluent? Did your speech sound natural? Were you able to express yourself clearly?
\nUse the audio recordings and transcripts in each section to gain an insight into the test format. Note that these are not model answers, so do not try to imitate them.
\nThere are no ‘answers’. You and your study partner will need to assess how well you do.
\nIn part 1 of the Speaking test the examiner will introduce him or herself and ask general questions on familiar topics.
\nThe examiner will ask you to confirm your identity.
\nHe or she will then ask general questions on familiar topics such as home, family, work, studies and interests. Part 1 of the test will last 4-5 minutes.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

You will need a study partner to practise the Speaking test.<\/p>\n
