An entry visa is a permit required by persons wishing to enter Italy for a temporary visit. Depending on the purpose and duration of your stay in Italy you can either apply for a short-term “Schengen visa” (C visa).
The purpose of this visa is to travel to Italy for to meet friends or family for up to 90 days.
A Schengen visa only allows foreign nationals to visit Italy and the other Schengen countries for up to 90 days.

Italy Short-term Visa:
A short-stay visa is an authorisation issued by a Member State for the purpose of transit through or stay in the territory of the Schengen States, not exceeding 90 days in any 180-day period. The visa issued can be:
USV “Uniform Schengen Visa” (type C): valid to enter and move freely in the territory of all countries that apply the Schengen Acquis(*) in full.
LTV “Visa with Limited Territorial Validity” (type C): valid ONLY for the territory of the issuing State or exceptionally for the territory of several member States, but not for all of them.
WHERE AND WHEN TO APPLY:
Visa applicants are hereby informed that applications cannot be lodged earlier than three months before the start of the intended journey. Therefore duly completed applications may be submitted three months onward prior to the confirmed travel date.
Visa Type C: Visa processing at the Italian Embassy in Islamabad generally takes about 15 calendar days. Some cases might take longer due to special circumstances.
